Integrated Polytechnic Regional College Tumba
Established in 2007, IPRC Tumba is one of the eight constituent colleges of Rwanda Polytechnic. The institution specializes in technical and vocational education, offering advanced diploma and bachelor of technology programs in fields such as Information Technology, Renewable Energy, Electronics and Telecommunication, and Mechatronics. It aims to bridge the skills gap in engineering and technology to support Rwanda's transition to a knowledge-based economy.
Programmes
- Information and Communication Technology (Software Engineering)
- Information and Communication Technology (Networking)
- Electrical Technology (Renewable Energy)
- Electrical Technology (Domestic Electricity)
- Telecommunication Technology
Tuition
- RWANDA POLYTECHNIC RATES ARE NATIONAL AND IDENTICAL ACROSS ALL EIGHT IPRCs: government-subsidised approximately RWF 300,000 per year, self-sponsored roughly RWF 600,000 to 900,000. THIS MEANS FEES SHOULD NOT DECIDE WHICH IPRC YOU PICK — choose on which college teaches your programme, and on living costs where it is. Whether you qualify for government sponsorship matters two to three times more than any other cost question here. Approximately RWF 300,000-600,000 per year depending on whether you are government-subsidised or on the private track — establishing which applies to you matters more than any other cost question. NOTABLE: Tumba is regarded as one of the strongest technical institutes in East Africa for ICT and alternative energy, built on a JAPANESE (JICA) TECHNICAL PARTNERSHIP — its renewable energy provision is uncommon at this level.
Admissions
- ENTRY: Advanced Level Certificate (A2 / S6) with A MINIMUM OF TWO PRINCIPAL PASSES in relevant STEM or TVET combinations.
- APPLY THROUGH THE CENTRAL RWANDA POLYTECHNIC PORTAL AT mis.rp.ac.rw — not to the college directly. All eight IPRCs share one application system.
- Provision is at ADVANCED DIPLOMA (A1) level rather than degree level. Ask about progression routes to a bachelor's qualification.
- CHECK THAT THIS COLLEGE TEACHES YOUR PROGRAMME. The IPRCs are specialised, not interchangeable — fees are the same everywhere, so the programme and the location are the real decision.
- RENEWABLE ENERGY is taught here as an electrical technology specialism — one of very few places in this directory offering it at diploma level.
- Accepts international applicants
