University of Rwanda
The University of Rwanda was created by the Government of Rwanda in 2013 to unify the country's public higher education system. It operates on a collegiate model with seven specialized colleges and multiple campuses across the country. As a research-led institution, UR hosts several World Bank African Centers of Excellence and serves over 30,000 students, aiming to drive national development through academic excellence, research, and community service.

Tuition
- Tuition is programme-based and differs by college and level. UR's official fee tables date from 2018-2019 and are still described as current. Administrative fees (registration, medical insurance, ID card, examinations, library and ICT, sports) are mandatory and published in the same PDFs. Approximately RWF 600,000-1,500,000 per year, varying by STEM versus humanities AND by whether you are government-sponsored or self-sponsored. THE LARGEST INSTITUTION IN RWANDA BY A WIDE MARGIN: 78 programmes across seven campuses (Gikondo, Remera, Nyarugenge, Huye, Busogo, Rukara, Nyagatare), organised as a federal college structure. CHECK WHICH CAMPUS TEACHES YOUR PROGRAMME — they span the country, and living costs differ sharply between Kigali and Huye or Nyagatare. International support runs through the Centre for International Joint Programs and Research.
Admissions
- International applicants: a minimum of 5 passes at O-Level and at least two principal passes at A-Level, or equivalent, obtained at the same sitting.
- Programme-specific requirements are set by each college and published in the annual undergraduate entry requirements PDF.
- Applicants may select a maximum of five programme choices in the application system.
