Pwani University
Pwani University is a public university in Kilifi County in the coastal region of Kenya, located 60 km north of Mombasa in the resort town of Kilifi, within the larger Kilifi County. Prior to the award of a charter, the university was a constituent college of Kenyatta University. The college, formerly the Kilifi Institute of Agriculture, was established on 23 August 2007 by an order signed by His Excellency President Mwai Kibaki.

Tuition
- No Pwani-specific fee figures could be verified, though it appears in a January 2026 listing of Kenyan universities offering courses from as little as KSh 5,000 per semester. As a public university Pwani students access both Universities Fund scholarships and HELB loans, means-tested across five household-income bands; apply at hef.co.ke once KUCCPS places you. Kilifi living costs sit below Mombasa and well below Nairobi. For coastal students the real saving is structural: Pwani removes the need to relocate inland, which matters in a region where higher education participation has historically lagged the national average.
Admissions
