Tuition
- Chuka publishes tuition by level, but READ THE UNITS CAREFULLY. Degree tuition is KSh 55,000 and diploma KSh 35,000 — both FIRST SEMESTER figures, not annual. Do not simply double them: Kenyan universities often front-load charges, and the second-semester rate was not published. Ask studentfinance@chuka.ac.ke to confirm before budgeting. NURSING is structured completely differently and costs far more: KSh 70,000 per session across THREE sessions a year, giving KSh 210,000 a year in tuition alone — roughly double a standard degree, reflecting clinical training costs — and it has a SEPTEMBER-ONLY intake, unlike other programmes. On top of tuition, annual charges are modest and clearly stated: registration KSh 1,000, library use KSh 2,000, activity fee KSh 1,000 and examinations KSh 3,000, totalling KSh 7,000, plus a material development charge on diplomas whose amount was not published. That KSh 7,000 overhead compares well with the University of Nairobi's KSh 20,000-30,000. As a public university Chuka students access both Universities Fund scholarships and HELB loans, and Chuka publishes its own HELB application guidance — apply at hef.co.ke once KUCCPS places you. Chuka reserves the right to change fees, subject to Governing Council approval. Accommodation is booked online (nyumba@chuka.ac.ke); rates were not published.
Admissions
- KCSE mean grade C+ for degree programmes, with programme-specific cluster requirements set by KUCCPS.
- Chuka publishes a list of courses accepting a KCSE D+ — a documented route into the institution for applicants well below the degree threshold, which few Kenyan universities advertise this openly. Ask for the current D+ course list.
- NURSING entry requires KCSE mean grade C+ with at least C+ in English or Kiswahili and C+ in Biology, plus further subject requirements — confirm the full set with the university.
- Before enrolling in nursing, ask for written confirmation of Nursing Council of Kenya recognition: without it a graduate cannot register to practise, and it was not confirmed.
- Accepts international applicants
- Scholarships or financial aid available
