Tuition
- No Moi fee figures could be verified — request the current structure from info@mu.ac.ke or +254 790 940 508. Moi is positioned as the affordable option among Kenya's major public universities, described as cheaper than UoN and Kenyatta and far cheaper than private institutions like Strathmore, which is a large part of its appeal. Treat that as positioning rather than fact until you have the actual tables: the claim rests on a single third-party source that published no numbers. One point worth confirming directly, because it changes any comparison substantially: Moi's fees are described as covering tuition, examination fees AND accommodation, whereas JKUAT for example charges accommodation separately at KSh 15,000-30,000 a semester. If true that is a genuine differentiator; the source is weak. International students pay more than Kenyan students — the premium amount was not established. As a public university Moi students access both Universities Fund scholarships and HELB loans, means-tested across five bands; apply at hef.co.ke once KUCCPS places you. Kenya's funding framework has been litigated since 2023 and is under legislative reform, so treat everything as dated August 2026. Separately, Kenyan public universities have been reported to face a financial crisis under the current model — worth checking Moi's position, since institutional finances can affect teaching continuity.
Admissions
- The national minimum for degree entry is a KCSE mean grade of C+, with programme-specific cluster subject requirements published by KUCCPS each cycle.
- Government-sponsored applicants are placed through KUCCPS rather than applying to Moi directly; self-sponsored applicants apply to the university.
- Moi's own admission requirements beyond the national minimum were not published — confirm with the university before ranking your KUCCPS choices.
- Accepts international applicants
