Tuition
- CUEA charges PER UNIT, not per year or semester — roughly KSh 2,500 a unit for diplomas, KSh 6,000 for bachelor's and KSh 8,000 for graduate programmes. Your cost therefore scales with your unit load, which gives some control over each semester's outlay but makes year-on-year comparison with other universities harder. The bigger lever is your funding route, and CUEA is unusual: it is a PRIVATE university that accepts KUCCPS-placed government-sponsored students. Government-sponsored students pay roughly KSh 320,750 in TOTAL across a four-year degree, about KSh 80,000 a year — competitive with public universities. Self-sponsored degrees run KSh 600,000-1.1 million in total, roughly KSh 150,000-275,000 a year. That is a difference of KSh 280,000-780,000 over four years, so establish your route before anything else. One thing to confirm with CUEA directly: whether its KUCCPS students receive Universities Fund scholarships or only a negotiated subsidised rate, since the current national model reserves scholarships for public institutions. At registration you pay KSh 20,000 — KSh 8,000 tuition plus KSh 12,000 statutory fee — and NO STUDENT IS REGISTERED BEFORE PAYING. Medical and caution fees are included in the total. CUEA does NOT accept cash, nor personal, company or cooperative cheques: pay by bankers cheque to CUEA, direct deposit (Commercial Bank of Africa 6479 000 011 Wabera St; Co-operative Bank 2200 Parliament Branch; Equity 0491 Rongai; NCBA), or M-Pesa paybill 100205 using your Student Registration Number as the account — and ADD KSh 40 to cover the transaction charge. Instalments per semester are available. Nursing has a separate fee schedule. Fees are reviewed every session subject to Governing Council approval. Ignore any source quoting 'from USD 39 a year' for local students — that aggregator makes the same error for Strathmore, USIU and DeKUT.
Admissions
- The national minimum for degree entry is a KCSE mean grade of C+. CUEA's reported 80-90% admission rate suggests it is accessible to applicants meeting that threshold.
- No student is registered before paying the required fees.
- Cash payments and personal, company or cooperative cheques are not accepted.
- Before enrolling in LAW or NURSING, ask for written confirmation of Council of Legal Education and Nursing Council of Kenya recognition respectively — neither was confirmed, and without it those degrees do not lead to practice.
- Accepts international applicants
- Scholarships or financial aid available
