Murang'a University of Technology
Murang'a University of Technology (MUT) is the successor of Murang'a University College (MRUC), a former constituent college of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) after being elevated from Murang'a College of Technology (MCT). The university is located 1.5 km from Murang'a town in Muranga County, 85 km northeast of Nairobi, 70 km southeast of Nyeri and 50 km southwest of Embu.

Tuition
- No Murang'a fee figures could be verified, and note that the university website was returning a server error (HTTP 500) when checked in August 2026 — so you may need to contact the university by phone or visit in person rather than relying on the site. As a public university its students access both Universities Fund scholarships and HELB loans, means-tested across five household-income bands; apply at hef.co.ke once KUCCPS places you. Murang'a is roughly 85km from Nairobi with living costs well below the capital, close enough that many students travel home regularly, which cuts the accommodation burden.
Admissions
- The national minimum for degree entry is a KCSE mean grade of C+, with programme-specific cluster requirements set by KUCCPS.
- For engineering programmes, ask for written confirmation of Engineers Board of Kenya accreditation — it determines whether you can register as a professional engineer.
- IMPORTANT WHEN SEARCHING: Murang'a University of Technology and Meru University of Science and Technology BOTH use the abbreviation MUT. Use the full name to be sure you are looking at the right institution — they are roughly 200km apart.
