- No MUHAS fee figures could be verified — contact vc@muhas.ac.tz. FOR A MEDICAL DEGREE, ESTABLISH THE FULL MULTI-YEAR COST, not the annual figure: medicine runs five or more years and Dar es Salaam is Tanzania's most expensive city, so the cumulative commitment is substantial. THE DECISIVE FINANCIAL QUESTION IS HESLB LOAN PRIORITY — health workforce programmes are commonly treated as priority by national loan schemes, and if that applies to your programme it changes the affordability picture entirely. Confirm it with HESLB BEFORE accepting a place, not after. Add the TZS 20,000 annual TCU quality assurance fee, and budget separately for uniforms, clinical equipment and placement travel — the main and Mloganzila campuses are 31km apart, so inter-campus travel is a real recurring cost.
Admissions
- THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTION AT THIS INSTITUTION: ask which PROFESSIONAL COUNCIL recognises your specific programme. MUHAS teaches medicine, dentistry, nursing and pharmacy, and every one of those requires registration with the relevant Tanzanian council for you to practise. None were confirmed here. Get it in writing — a health degree without council recognition does not let you work.
- Apply DIRECTLY to the university. Tanzania has no central placement body equivalent to Kenya's KUCCPS.
- DIRECT ENTRY: two ACSEE principal passes at E or above totalling 4.0 points. In practice MUHAS's cut-offs sit far above that floor — medicine is typically the most competitive programme in the Tanzanian system, and health programmes require specific science subjects.
- Applications typically open in June and close around August.
- Accepts international applicants
