Tuition
- Kisii publishes the most precisely itemised fee structure of any institution in this directory, and it contains a lesson that applies well beyond Kisii: THE NON-TUITION CHARGES ARE LARGER THAN THE TUITION. For a Bachelor of Arts year, tuition is KSh 8,000 a semester (KSh 16,000 a year) — but eight annual charges add KSh 21,400 on top: written examination KSh 6,000, ICT/computer KSh 5,000, material development KSh 3,000, medical KSh 2,000, library KSh 2,000, annual registration KSh 2,000, activity KSh 1,000 and student union KSh 400. The true annual total is KSh 37,400. Anyone quoting 'tuition' alone would understate the real cost by more than half. The structure is also heavily FRONT-LOADED: semester 1 carries tuition plus all eight annual charges (KSh 29,400), while semester 2 carries tuition only (KSh 8,000) — so nearly 80% of the year's cost falls at the start. Two important caveats: these figures are from a YEAR 3 arts structure, and first years commonly pay additional one-off charges; and science, business and technology programmes will cost materially more, so do not generalise the arts figure. At KSh 37,400 fully loaded this is the cheapest fully documented degree year in the directory — a HELB loan of KSh 40,000-60,000 would cover it entirely with money left for upkeep. As a public university Kisii students access both Universities Fund scholarships and HELB loans; apply at hef.co.ke once KUCCPS places you.
Admissions
- The national minimum for degree entry is a KCSE mean grade of C+, with programme-specific cluster requirements set by KUCCPS each cycle.
- Kisii's own entry requirements beyond the national minimum were not published — confirm before ranking your KUCCPS choices.
- Ask for the fee structure for YOUR programme and year of study. Kisii publishes them per-programme and per-year, and the arts figures do not transfer to laboratory-based courses.
- Accepts international applicants
