United States International University-Africa, also known as USIU-Africa, is a private university in Kenya. The university is accredited by the Commission for Higher Education (CUE) in Kenya and by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) in the United States.

Tuition
- USIU publishes a live 2025-2026 fee structure at usiu.ac.ke/tuition-fees — go there for current amounts, or email admit@usiu.ac.ke. What matters as much as the base figure is the fee ARCHITECTURE, which USIU states unusually clearly. NON-EAST AFRICANS PAY 30% ABOVE LOCAL RATES on tuition AND on every mandatory fee — library, medical and student activity fees included, not tuition alone. East African Community citizens pay local rates, so applicants from Rwanda, Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, South Sudan and the DRC avoid the uplift entirely. On top of tuition: a KSh 3,500 technology fee for all students, and a KSh 6,000 per-semester IT lab fee for anyone taking Applied Computer Technology, Information System Technology, Software Engineering, Data Science and Analytics, the PhD in Information Systems and Technology, or ANY IT course. Fees are calculated per year even though teaching runs on trimesters, and USD exchange rates are fixed per semester for non-East Africans while varying daily for East Africans — so a non-EAC student has currency certainty within a semester and an EAC student paying in dollars does not. Fees are subject to annual review. As a private university USIU accesses HELB loans only, NOT government scholarships, which are reserved for public institutions. Master's students must stay continuously enrolled every semester while Thesis II or Project II is incomplete, which carries a continuing fee — understand that before you start. Ignore any source quoting 'from USD 39 a year' for local students; that figure is plainly wrong and the same aggregator repeats the error for Strathmore.
Admissions
