Tuition
- TEKU PUBLISHES ITS OWN FEE STRUCTURE AND JOINING INSTRUCTIONS — download them from teku.ac.tz rather than relying on estimates. Two international aggregators give wildly different figures (roughly USD 727 a year versus from USD 2,500 for foreign students) and neither is reliable; the second likely reflects a distinct international rate. TEKU also publishes joining-instruction PDFs by level, which carry fees, requirements and reporting details. ASK EXPLICITLY ABOUT INSTITUTIONAL SCHOLARSHIPS: directory listings state TEKU provides financial aid to BOTH local and international students, which is unusual in this directory and worth pursuing. If you are a Moravian Church member, ask about denominational sponsorship, particularly for theology. Mbeya living costs are well below Dar es Salaam. Add the TZS 20,000 annual TCU quality assurance fee.
Admissions
- IF YOU ARE APPLYING VIA THE DIPLOMA ROUTE, YOU NEED A NACTE AWARD VERIFICATION NUMBER before you apply — obtain it through the NACTE Awards Verification System, and you will need a working personal email address. This is a concrete procedural step that trips up applicants and is documented at few other institutions.
- DIRECT ENTRY: two ACSEE principal passes totalling 4.0 points, with subject requirements by programme. BSc Computer Science accepts two principal passes from Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Computer Studies, Agriculture, Geography or Advanced Mathematics; BEd Languages from History, Kiswahili, English or Geography.
- TEKU teaches the FULL LADDER from certificate to PhD, so there are entry points below degree level — including a Certificate in Community Development and Social Work.
- If you are not Christian, ask directly about admission and about any compulsory religious components: TEKU integrates Christian values into its programmes and activities, and the effect on admission is unstated.
- International applicants: passport, and TOEFL or IELTS certificates, are listed among required documents by an international aggregator — confirm directly with TEKU.
- Accepts international applicants
