Tuition
- No Umma fee figures could be verified — contact info@umma.ac.ke or +254 746 790 207. ASK ABOUT ROUTES THAT WOULD NOT BE ADVERTISED THROUGH MAINSTREAM CHANNELS. Umma was created by the Africa Muslim Agency, now Direct Aid International, an Islamic development NGO founded by the Kuwaiti doctor Abdulrahman Al-Sumait — such founders often subsidise fees to widen access, and whether Direct Aid funds student places is the single most consequential financial question here. Ask too about zakat-based or waqf endowment bursaries, which Islamic institutions commonly operate and which rarely appear in fee directories. As a private university Umma accesses HELB loans only, not Universities Fund scholarships. Living costs in both Kajiado and Thika are below Nairobi.
Admissions
- The national minimum for degree entry is a KCSE mean grade of C+, with programme-specific requirements. Umma's own grades were not published — contact info@umma.ac.ke.
- IF APPLYING FOR NURSING OR MIDWIFERY: ask for written confirmation of Nursing Council of Kenya recognition, which determines whether you can register to practise.
- IF APPLYING FOR LAW: ask for written confirmation of Council of Legal Education recognition, required to proceed to the Kenya School of Law.
- ASK WHETHER ARABIC PROFICIENCY IS REQUIRED for Sharia and Islamic Studies programmes. This was not established and would be material.
- If you are not Muslim, ask directly whether you would be admitted. Most faith-founded Kenyan universities admit students of other backgrounds, but this was not confirmed at Umma and should not be assumed either way.
- Accepts international applicants
